Selecting eleven players can mean very different things. Before a fixture, you are choosing the team you would send out. Across a completed or developing round, you are deciding which performances deserve recognition. Matchday Call gives these decisions separate places and separate voting windows.

Your Starting XI belongs to a particular match in Matchday. Team of the Matchweek, called Team of the Round for cups, belongs to a round in Football. Knowing which question you are answering makes both selections more useful.

Starting XI: who would you send out?

Your Starting XI is a pre-match choice for the team you are following in a specific fixture. Read the selection brief and available team news, choose your formation and select eleven starters. Submit while that fixture’s selections are open. The open or locked state shown in the app determines whether a change is available.

You can compare your picks with the Terrace XI and the official team sheet when available. Agreement tells you where your view overlaps; disagreement gives you something to examine. An official selection shows what the manager chose, while your saved XI preserves the decision you made before the game.

Round XI: who stood out across the round?

In Football, Team of the Matchweek draws from the selected league matchweek. Team of the Round applies the same idea to a cup round. Use the competition, season and round context to make sure you are reviewing the right set of matches, rather than relying on a player’s general reputation.

The current ballot uses a fixed 4-3-3: one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards. Choose from the eligible players provided for that round. Tapping a selected player opens the available round data, while a position lets you choose or replace a player. The editor requires all eleven places before submission.

Check the window before you vote

A Round XI has its own opening and closing state. When voting is open, the hub offers a vote or edit action and displays the closing time. You can prepare your selection in the editor, then sign in to save it. A saved ballot can be updated while the round remains open, so confirm that your latest version was accepted.

Once voting closes, the editor becomes read-only. Full results are available when a complete consensus is ready. There is no single deadline promised for every competition: follow the state and time for the round you have selected. A closed window and an unavailable result are different conditions.

Read consensus as a supporter view

The round’s consensus combines supporter ballots into an eleven. While a sufficient result is still forming, the app can show that the XI is building. A ready consensus requires a complete set of eleven starters; it is not replaced with a plausible-looking lineup when the result is incomplete.

When both your saved ballot and the consensus are available, the hub shows how many of your eleven selections overlap. That comparison measures agreement, rather than proving one selection was objectively correct. Use the player data to understand a difference and give your own reason for a pick. Consensus and individual judgment can tell complementary stories.

Make each selection answer the right question

For a Starting XI, focus on the upcoming fixture: available players, the formation you want and the roles your side needs. For a Round XI, focus on performances within the selected round, with attention to the available player evidence. A favourite player can belong in either selection, but for different reasons.

Neither a saved pre-match XI nor a Round XI vote automatically creates a ranked Decision Score. The app’s call assessments and ranking qualification are a separate process. Coverage also varies by competition and round, so use the selection features when they are available and follow the information shown in their own screens.
